The ...uh...adventure of me, who fell in love with a Canadian, and is spending time in Canada-getting to know the country, living life, suffering from culture shock...and just the all around trauma of being in love with someone who's from somewhere else t
Does it get any better than this? Probably---

You know....I would have never thought of myself as the brave type. In fact, I know damn well im not. I have to be THE most wussed-out person I know, scared of just about everything--bravery? Not in my vocabulary. Only when it 's a "have to' case, and then I trudge along, shaking in my boots....scared to death, but usually able to get through it. But to actually strike out on an "adventure"...on purpose? *snicker*....not hardly. However.....in early October, I found myself doing just that...doing something (that for me) was absolutely out of the norm, beyond the realm of my little world. I had met someone online, and...as luck would have it...we fell head over heels in love with each other. Now mind you, love is a beautiful thing and all that other stuff we hear about love...yeah, yeah...I was lucky to find love, etc. etc.---it isn't like ive never been in love before, actually? Ive been pretty lucky in that area of my life. Most other areas suck, but hey, in love? Noooo problem. Of course, there was a little fly in this love ointment...the fact that he was a Canadian, and im an American....he lived in Saskatchewan, I was from California. What to do, what to do....God bless the internet for complicating an already complicated situation (that of love to begin with...).....

We corresponded fora couple of months, did the average internet things that are done when something of this nature happens. We emailed. Constantly. Several a day. Long ones, even. We exchanged loads of pictures ( must deal in reality, etc. etc.). We talked endlessly on the phone (Thank heavens that AT&T has a butt-kicker of a phone plan to Canada...unlimited, anytime, 5 extra bucks a month...that was IT! No kidding...I asked them how they managed to avoid bankruptcy with a rate like that...I was told that there were few calls to Canada from California...I told them they didn't know me, hahaha)---at last, after a couple of months....the fateful meeting took place. He drove (yes...drove...almost 2000 miles...) out to California, and we spent three weeks together. Three glorious weeks. And thank goodness, we were as smitten as we were online and the phone. Of course....the weeks came to an end...and the thought of being apart just seemed almost impossible to either of us. I lucked out, and managed to take a leave of absence from work to come out to Canada for a bit to visit. Seeing as how our countries are so very civilized, heh heh....I'm able to come to Canada to visit for up to 6 months, which is really nice. Of course, I can't work--but that's alright, there's plenty of make-up work to be done once im back in the States. Interesting thing....I was here for our election, and gosh....Canada sure followed it closely. The city im in is absolutely beautiful-the trees, so many trees...so many different kinds- the pine trees are just absolutely beautiful. It's a bit disconcerting to see the Canadian flag flown everywhere...however, there are a couple of American flags strewn about, flying....one is at the Ramada, haha....the other? Another American hotel. I'm amazed at how completely fresh and clean the air is....where im from (Central California), the skyline is a nasty shade of light brown. Fresh air is an unknown thing. This place reminds me of my hometown 30 years ago, seriously just very laid back...easygoing. Actually? I like it here....but I miss everyone at home. So.....as I said, im here for a visit. Where we're going to go from here, is anyone's guess....we love each other- I suspect marriage will figure into the equation, and I know what a big bear immigration will be, i've heard stories...I read websites *grin*. Stay tuned for my latest...um....adventures. Lol. At this point, the weather is starting to cool off bigtime (They are having a warming trend here, so they say. Ha...make ME laugh....their idea of a 'warm trend' is the equivilent of the dead of winter, where I'M from....something tells me it can get damn cold here...). I saw my first snowfall a week after I got here....wow. Of course, it was easy stuff....fat, gorgeous light flurries...about 8 inches.....nothing like a REAL snowstorm, which will probably freak me out all to hell. Remember...Im a Native Cali Girl.....never saw snow actually falling in my life. Ask me about 110 degree summers, THAT im an expert on.....perma-tan? Uh huh...got that...fading fast, lol.
